Nurturing Nature, Cultivating Responsibility
At Vivekananda College Of Skill Development (VCSD), we believe education goes beyond classrooms and textbooks. It extends into fostering a sustainable relationship with our environment. Our Tree Plantation Drive stands as a vibrant example of our commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship.
To create a strong sense of responsibility towards nature by educating participants on the critical role trees play in maintaining ecological harmony.
To contribute actively towards carbon sequestration and reduction of air pollution through large-scale plantation.
To strengthen the bond between the institution and local communities by involving them in eco-friendly activities.
To encourage students of various skill disciplines to participate in environmental activities, integrating their technical and managerial skills with social causes.
To develop a greener, healthier, and aesthetically pleasing campus environment conducive to learning and well-being.
A grand festival showcasing students’ talents across competitions in arts, sports, tech, and academics.
The Tree Plantation Drive is an ongoing, campus-wide initiative aimed at promoting ecological balance, enhancing green cover, and instilling environmental consciousness among students, faculty, and local communities. This drive forms an integral part of our green campus policy and our broader vision to empower students with the values of sustainability and community service.
Our drive emphasizes planting indigenous, drought-resistant, and medicinal plants that thrive well in the local climate. These include species like neem, peepal, banyan, drumstick (moringa), guava, tulsi, and more.
Regular events are organized during significant occasions like World Environment Day, Van Mahotsav, and Independence Day. These events see enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff planting saplings across the campus and nearby public spaces.
To complement hands-on plantation, VCSD organizes workshops and seminars on topics such as biodiversity conservation, climate change, waste management, and sustainable living.
The initiative includes a dedicated “Green Committee” responsible for watering, protecting, and monitoring the growth of planted trees, ensuring survival rates remain high.
Dedicated to creating eco-conscious citizens, this club engages students in activities like tree plantation drives, waste management awareness, recycling initiatives, and sustainability workshops.
