Grievance Redressal Policy

Vivekananda College of Skill Development (VCSD)

At Vivekananda College of Skill Development, we are committed to fostering an environment of transparency, accountability, and fairness. We recognize that grievances may arise from time to time concerning academic, administrative, or infrastructural matters. To uphold the highest standards of student welfare and institutional integrity, we have instituted a formal Grievance Redressal Mechanism to ensure that every complaint or concern is addressed promptly, fairly, and effectively.

Objective

The primary objective of the Grievance Redressal policy is to provide students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders with a clear, accessible, and structured process to report grievances related to:.

  • Academic matters (examinations, evaluations, admissions, syllabus, faculty conduct).
  • Administrative issues (fees, scholarships, certificates, documentation)
  • Infrastructure (classrooms, labs, hostel facilities, campus safety)
  • Discrimination or harassment (based on gender, caste, religion, disability, or any other grounds).
  • Any other concerns affecting the overall educational experience and institutional functioning

Scope

This policy applies to all students enrolled in any course at VCSD, faculty members, administrative and support staff, and other associated stakeholders including parents and guardians.

Service 2

Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC)

To ensure impartiality and timely resolution, VCSD has constituted a Grievance Redressal Committee comprising members from academic, administrative, and student bodies. The Committee meets regularly to review and resolve grievances.

Composition of the GRC:

  • Faculty Representatives from various departments.
  • Student Representatives
  • Administrative Officer.
  • External Member (optional, for specific grievances requiring neutrality)

VCSD Grievance Redressal Mechanism

Grievances can be submitted through the following methods:

Complaint must include:

  • Name and contact details
  • Detailed description
  • Date, time, place (if applicable)
  • Supporting documents or evidence

An acknowledgment will be sent within 3 working days confirming the registration and initiation of the grievance process.

Step 3: Preliminary Review

The GRC verifies the complaint’s validity and may seek additional input from relevant parties.

Step 4: Detailed Investigation
  • Impartial investigation through meetings, interviews, or documentation review
  • Confidentiality is strictly maintained
  • No retaliation against complainant or witnesses is tolerated
Step 5: Resolution & Recommendations

The Committee may recommend corrective actions such as counseling, mediation, policy change, or disciplinary action. Decision will be communicated within 30 working days.

If unsatisfied, the complainant may appeal to the Principal within 15 days. A final decision will be issued within 15 working days.

All grievances are handled with utmost confidentiality. Records are securely maintained. Annual summary reports are shared with the Governing Body to enhance transparency.

VCSD organizes regular workshops and orientation programs to educate about rights, anti-harassment policies, and grievance mechanisms. Feedback is used to enhance institutional practices.
